Not. My. Favorite.
Just saying.
The young guy that helped me
during choosing and purchasing process
said it was super simple set up these days.
But, he would not give me his direct call number for support.
πππ

So - a long time to catch up on in blogland.
Don't know how to get it all without writing for hours non-stop,
so I'll just start and add some photos of a current project in progress.

My most current obsession is this -
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">About half way there already!!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">2.5" cut center

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">2" cut logs

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">It really is going so quickly!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">My goal is to have it put together by month end.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">There are no rules to this sew-along - no minimums/maximums, colors or sizes, no fixed-date to finish, you can join in if you love this look as much as I do.

Enough for today!
Hope everyone is enjoying their July!
With so many choices and so many options available, itβs always mind-boggling to me.
Iβd like to share pictures from a quilt retreat;
I could share a quilt I made for another swap Iβve participated in;
Iβd share a little, long-term project Iβve started - 3.5 inch baskets;
or even share three freshly made baby quilt gifts
for new twin nieces and a coming soon nephew.

But.... no pictures can be added from my mobile device. βΉοΈ

I hope youβre all keeping busy and enjoying your Spring.
Happy Stitching!
And Iβll try to check in again, soon.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I decided I'd do another block swap this Winter,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">when Barb, of Fun with Barb blog fame,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">offered her (what has become) annual block swap.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">She offered the swap in Modern or Reproduction fabrics,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">and the block she chose for us to make was
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">the Churn dash - six inch finished;
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">44 of one color way, and 22 of a second colorway.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">We'd make and send 66 blocks and get 66 in return!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I chose the Reproduction group and used two of my favorite fabrics:

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">and made forty-four of the blue, twenty-two of the cheddar.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">It doesn't look like a stack of 66 blocks, I know, but Whew!!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Yes, it was a lot of blocks to make.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Made and mailed the end of February,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">so we'll be getting our swap blocks back soon!!!

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Happy St. Patrick's Day to you!!
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Ooops, where does time go when you're having fun?
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I already had the big applique blocks done, but had to add all the embroidery... <span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">I'm off to go do some more stitching,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">We (Sweetie and I) hosted a new year's eve dinner and card party - 11 people, with delicious foods brought in by all attending. It was perfect and peaceful and fun.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Lots of visiting and laughter. We chose to play progressive euchre with two tables of four, and three sitting out each game rotation, so we all had time to visit AND play cards, with the games ending right before the televised ball drop in NY.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I don't usually make New Year resolutions, only to fulfill my long-ago promise made to my Great-Grandma B - to learn something new each year (which can be something small or something monumental).
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Last year, I learned more about gut health and how it affects so many things in overall health and wellness. Don't get me started here, LOL, or I'll go on and on, but it is AMAZING what gut health controls.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">In the quilting realm, I've decided this year I will finish up some already started projects. Who knows why I have all the blocks for an entire quilt made, some not even sewn together or without borders attached.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Like this ongoing project -

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"> Farm Girl Sampler quilt blocks now together, but not pressed.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">(book Farm Girl Vintage by Lori Holt)

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Also!, a few friends and I who retreat together,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">have an ongoing challenge.... a 'bet' of sorts.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">We have chosen to not purchase any new fabric
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">as we work on our unfinished projects this Winter/Spring -
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">to try to use our stash.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">The first person to purchase new fabric
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">will have to buy pretzels for the others -
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">the awesome, freshly made, pretzels from Shipshewana,
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">when we see each other again in November.

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">So, back to blogging, back to stitching, and back to learning!!!
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">Hope your January is wonderful, too!!!

So many fun & busy times were had here in April!!!
Why?, well, because
I had house guests from out of the country!
My Norwegian friends,
who I met about five years ago at a quilt retreat,
came to visit me!

I'd not seen them for about 550 days...
but who was counting? π
From the time I collected them from the airport,
it was like we'd not been apart those 18 months.
We visited and caught each other up with our lives.
We grocery shopped, cooked, shared recipes,
and, of course, we ate well.

March.... March<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Sweetie and I had the grandsons over
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">for sleepover a couple of weeks ago,
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">and at the ages of five and three,
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">it seems as though they can always teach me something.
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">For instance, did you know that
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">March comes after Jan-bary?
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">And that Moms and Grandmas use
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">the wintertime (wintertime is after Christmas)
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">to march around and clean up the house?
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">And that's why it's called March -
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">march, march, marching orders, you know! Cracking me up!!
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">

<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Guess I do normally, kind of use the time before
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Spring arrives to do some clean<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> up. lol
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">My own 'marching orders'
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">(after putting away all the Christmas decor)
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">There are many more strip sets, but that's a good representation.
<span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;">I'm finding so many old favorite fabrics in working on this quilt,
February came in like Spring-time,
and our Buckeye Chuck, the groundhog, got to see his shadow,
so maybe we'll still get some Winter weather around here
while it's supposed to be Winter time!
Not being snowed in and freezing is NOT
conducive (for me anyway) to getting much quilting done!!!

No excuses, really, but I'm missing my Winter,
and cuddling under a quilt that I'm hand quilting or binding!!!
It's leaving me not stitching a whole lot with the nice, sunshiny weather. π

I've been playing in my Civil War repro fabric scraps a little,
and getting some small pieces sewn into blocks, but slow progress.

I have quilted a few more quilts for others...
here's a recent one, by a new quilter, Heather:

She made a T-shirt for a colleague's daughter's birthday, and it turned out GREAT!
I had fun quilting it, too! Here are a few pics of some of my fun...
Free-hand, long-arm fun:

Funny story about this raspberry pink t-shirt block -

As I meandered over one corner, I smelled something, but I didn't really pay attention, just kept on meandering. On the return pass of quilting, I came upon the smell again, and I stopped. Looked around. Sniffed the air. Did a double-take, and then a double-sniff-in-the-air. Yep, something smelled fruity!!
So I leaned over the long-arm machine and sniffed the quilt. Felt the t-shirt, sniffed again. And burst out laughing! It was a scratch and sniff t-shirt!!! Rather raspberry-like in smell. That had me smiling the rest of that day.

And I'm smiling again today, as I see the photo. I can just picture myself, sniffing around the long-arm, in the sunny quilting room, thinking about smelling fresh fruit, JUST like I was standing in the raspberry patch at grandma's long time ago.

Hope your new week and February, too, are bringing you smiles!

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It had been a while since I'd made a quilt as a gift for my Mom,
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">so when I attended the One Stop Shop Hop (in Dayton, Ohio) last October and saw a shop sample made with Chickadee fabric, I immediately knew it would be perfect for my mother.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I purchased the kit mid-October, I stitched it together at a retreat mid-November, quilted it after Thanksgiving, and mailed it on it's way to arrive for Christmas!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;"> The finished quilt, picture taken late night:
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The coloring is a little off, but I do like the finish. And, she absolutely LOVED it!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I've been busy, busy! A good kind of busy, though...
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">all the holiday decor is down and put away.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The weather is being weird here in central Ohio...
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">lots of dreariness, but no snow.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Since there's no snow for real,
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I put up decorations that remind me that it is really Wintertime:
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">And you know what that means when there's
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">no snow predicted here for most of the month?
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Means we'll probably have it later, into Spring.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It's another by Janet for a niece for Christmas.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Just adorable. Now I think I'll have to put a 30's quilt on my 'someday list'.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Here's a close up of some of the fabrics:

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Perfect to quilt over! and I'm sure the niece loved it!

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I also have a couple of my own quilts to share -
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">but next time...
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I really need to find the misplaced camera!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It's my way of documenting my fun/work,
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">and keeping me organized.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Hope you all have had a great day!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Let me set the scene for Christmas Eve:
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I'd cleaned and prepped for
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The Annual Christmas Eve Family and Friends Feast...
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">including, seven appetizers, steak and chicken marinating, twice-baked potatoes and homemade rolls ready to heat, vegetables and salads made and chilling, table set and kitchen back to clean after all the prep... Even had the stockings filled and the gifts all wrapped and under the tree for the grand-kiddos.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">It's going on four o'clock, and I have about a half hour before the first arrivals.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">I decide I will just sit and put my feet up, awaiting our guests...
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">dear daughter gets herself a plate of appetizers, Sweetie grabs himself a dinner roll, and I have my big glass of ice water. Ahhhh. Half an hour of relaxation and the place looks great, and smells even better!
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">And...........
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The ten foot tree crashes to the living room floor!!!

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Daughter took the picture before we started the clean up.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Did you know that when a decorated tree falls, that
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">all the lights and garlands shift to the floor side of the tree? LOL
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Oh My Goodness. What a mess.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Broken ornaments everywhere, at least a gallon and half of water went all over the wrapped gifts and old, old quilt/tree skirt and carpet.

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">The three of us who had just sat down for a little relaxation had the tree back to it's upright position and were cleaning up the shattered ornaments as the first arrivals (the in-laws) came in. They thought it was the nights' entertainment and just sat on the couch in front of the disaster and watched cleanup and re-wrap. Wish I had recorded the commentary!! lol

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">We all agreed that the 'Christmas Eve Feast 2016' story is one that will be told and retold in the coming decades, and thankfully no one was injured.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Oh, by the way, the tree is now wired/tethered to the wall.
<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">

<span style="font-family: Georgia,"Times New Roman",serif;">Hope you all had a wonderful holiday, and that there wasn't quite the excitement that we had!
