More Dear Jane Retreat show and tell 4

More and more gorgeousness from retreat:
These antlers were family members' hand-prints:
 A signature block exchange quilt:
and a close-up of the near center:
No pattern for the last picture...she made it to look like a photo taken in her own back yard:

Isn't that just a whole lot of inspiration and beauty??

I think there is just one more post-full of pictures from this retreat,
so back soon!
Hope you are having a great week!

More Dear Jane Retreat show and tell 3

The next prolific quilter is Rosemary:
A signature block quilt -from a swap I believe:
A sew-along quilt:
This one she wanted larger than the mystery sew-along,
so she added more borders:
She used left-over blocks in 30's prints in this:
and left-over blocks in reproduction prints in this:
and I LOVE this Diamond quilt she just got back from her quilter:
and finally, a quilt from blocks from an exchange:
More beautiful quilts from more beautiful retreaters:
If you enlarge the photos, you can see the wonderful quilting
done on each of them!
And people don't get why I love quilts and textiles...
I wish I could show them these in person to explain why!

More Dear Jane Retreat show and tell 2

This Dear Jane retreat group is one prolific group of gals!!
so I'll split the quilt photos into a few posts.

Judy usually makes Small Quilts and Doll Quilts (blog),
but she made this large quilt of baskets
OK, that's more like it!:
She also made small and then smaller 'HO-HO-HO' quilts:

The one on the left is sideways in this photo ^.
Do you see the lines of red 'H's, and white 'O's?
Then she also had another large finish of beautiful cheddar and stars:
I really wanted her to leave this one for me :), but she wouldn't go for it.  Imagine that!

Caroline, from Belgium, shipped her quilt tops to a quilter in the USA, then picked them up while in the States, so she was binding away while on retreat:

LuAnn is as addicted to English paper-piecing as I am
and she had to large quilts with EPP in them...
this one in the works:
And this one finished:
Yes, she ALSO had a finished Dear Jane quilt!
And, in her spare time, she does the mystery quilts, too:

 More to follow

Dear Janes from Dear Jane Retreat #1 & Black Friday

Black Friday!!
I don't participate in the shopping craziness, but usually
do some cleaning in prep for the decor changeover in my home...
I remove all of the Autumn-looking quilts, table-toppers and pumpkins and replace with Winter-looking quilts and snowflakes and snowmen.  Rather minimalistic compared to what all used to come out of storage.
Anyway, after that change-up, then treat myself...I sew!!!
It's a pretty relaxing day.
But before I start up my sewing machine,
I do want to share some more pictures from my last retreat...

The Dear Jane retreat mid-November is over...
and boy, oh boy, was it a good one!
The retreat, as any retreat, was wonderful, but
besides it being a great retreat,
there were Five more Goddesses!
You reach Goddess status if you are a member of this group
and finish your Dear Jane quilt.
Though I'm unorganized, forgetful, and don't have everyone's names, there were such beautiful Dear Jane quilt finishes this year, and here they are:
Pat
LuAnn, of Loose Threads blog fame
I probably should have done some photo cropping; sorry I didn't, but wanted to share sooner than later.

Also, did you notice that if you do a Dear Jane quilt that you have to dress to coordinate with your quilt? :)  I'll have to remember that for some year.

More quilts from show-and-tell tomorrow.

quilts to share #4 Dear Jane: April 2014

Part four of Dear Jane retreat,
Shipshewana, Indiana,
April 2014:

More beautiful quilts!
A wonderful Take Two in browns and neutrals:
And the same gal finished her Dear Jane and got her Goddess Crown!:
This is an Amish oldie from the 30's,
brought in by Rebecca Harrer (Rebecca Harrer Antiques):
And this Yo-Yo antique quilt was purchased at the auction held in town:
On the way to a quilt shop a short drive away, there was a Mickey-D's with a drive-thru
and I caught this picture that made me smile:
Finally, here is a pic of our local celebrities -
Gay Bommers (left) of Sentimental Stitches and
Brenda Papadakis (right) of Jane Stickle/Dear Jane fame.
They are standing in front of the Takes Two quilt from the Sew Along last year.
So much fun, laughter, and inspiration.
Don't want time to fly by, but I'm sure looking forward to the Autumn gathering
and seeing all of my D.J. friends again.

I think that this is finally the last of the pictures from this Spring Dear Jane retreat.
Hope you enjoyed them all as much as I did.

Happy Stitching!

quilts to share #3 Dear Jane: April 2014

Part three of Dear Jane retreat,
Shipshewana, Indiana,
April 2014:

This first beauty was king-sized huge:
A magnificent applique that was beautifully machine quilted:
And a close-up that shows some of the quilting:
 Trees:
 Cute little sheep:
 Blocks and chains:
This was a great wall hanging, wool on cotton:
Another great quilt with pieced and appliqued blocks:
A close-up of the quilt above, this showing the colors better:
A Take Two in reds that was great:
Another great bunch of quilts, weren't they?
All of them so wonderful and inspiring.
Makes me want to add more and more to my make-it-someday list!

One more day of pics to share.
See you again tomorrow.
Happy Stitching!
