Beautiful October

I don't think I have a favorite month,
or even favorite time of year....
But this October, here in central Ohio?
It has been awesome!!!
The weather has been almost Summer-like,
with lots of family fun times,
many special times with friends, too,
some stitching time thrown in,
and even a little fall decor I've put out! 😄

Here are a few of my favorite, Autumnal, little quilts:
Geese in the Cabin small quilt
12x12 Fall Colors, hand tied
Pumpkins and Geese -
this pattern was in a quilt magazine
a handful of years ago,
that I free-motion-quilted on my long-arm
Bringing out and seeing those little quilts makes me reminisce...
Don't you just LOVE all those fabrics???
Even if you're not a real fan of Civil War era repro fabrics,
I think they're so home-y, so warm and vibrant.
Those little quilts, above, I made while working at a
reproduction fabrics quilt shop, The Good Wives Company.
The Good Wives Co. was a totally awesome shop, with such inspiration, creativity, quilty love, and wonderful people, and we were all just devastated when they closed four years ago.  I feel there's still a hole in our quilt shop community from them closing their doors.
I'm thankful for my time there and all the quilty friendships made, and still think about them often, and miss their fabric availability, too, as you can probably tell from this writing.

Do you have a favorite month, or favorite season for quilts??
What's your favorite style of fabric?
And do you have a favorite quilt shop?
I try to support all the local shops, and online shops, too....
 - and laugh as I say that,
because I don't truly NEED any more fabric,
or any more projects, either, for that matter,
to add to my Want-To-Make-Someday list.

Happy, beautiful October to you!
I wish you wonderful Autumn weather,
crunchy leaves, and plenty of stitching time in your day.

rig-a-ma-role

So..
Those of you who are following your favorite blogs
with Google reader
have probably heard that Google reader
is shutting down at the end of this month.

If you have no idea what the heck I'm talking about,
join the club! :)
I'm trying to keep up with all the "new tricks"
- linking, listing, following, etc.
And hopefully as I'm learning, I'm not messing things up!
It's still fun to me, so I guess that's the main thing!

If you have been following me with Google reader,
this is just to inform you
that you can now follow me by using Bloglovin'.
And if I'm understanding the whole rig-a-ma-role,
in order to do so, I have to claim this blog.
Drumroll!!!!!
Here's me, staking my claim:
Dibbs.
Shotgun.
MyLifeIsAStitch.blogspot.com is mine!
All mine!
My ramblings, photos, sharing.

So, if you'd like to be notified when I write a new post,
just click on the Bloglovin' button on my sidebar to sign up.
That way you'll be notified when your favorite bloggers have something to share.
At least that's how it's supposed to work.  :)

Here's hoping it's smooth sailing!

Finally, I leave you with a picture from a NYC trip...
from the top of the Rock,
a little nautical and quilting inspiration:
 :)
Happy sailing and stitching this week!

International Quilt Festival sharing

Don't you just love house quilts?  This one was a beauty!!!  I stood in front of these houses for quite a while admiring all of the character in each one.  It made me want to go visit Switzerland to see if I could find each and every one of the houses.
This feathered star quilt (made by Cyndia Berner/Indianapolis, IN) had a great mix of block styles that drew me in.  It was a reproduction of an antique quilt - no wonder I was sucked in :).
And finally, this bright, sunny and fun one:
It was made in a guild exchange (Barb Zapp, Duluth, Minnesota).
Each member made a whole sunflower block, then quartered it and exchanged the quarters.
Wouldn't that be fun?

Well, that's the last of my pics to share from
IQF - Cincinnati, Ohio 2013
(I could have taken a whole digital memory card full of pics,
it was that good of a show of quilts.)
If I let it,
a show that good could make me feel lacking in quilting skills :)
Instead, I'll take inspiration!
So much inspiration, so little time.
